Recently, while participating in a movement class, I came across an exercise that required the use of the alphabet. I won’t go into the specifics; but what I will focus on for this week’s blog is the value of focus, of focusing on a single letter and the benefits of simple, single-minded focus.
Each C word requires you to think of your response. Look at the list. Notice how you respond and your level of intensity, using the 0 to 10 measurement scale, with zero being un-concerned, and 10 being very concerned.
As you look at the C words, what do you notice, believe, and value? Allow yourself to free-associate with each word. Consider, describe, and analyze. But most importantly...whatever comes to mind, have fun with it.
What is your belief?
Do you agree, respect, and appreciate, whatever you hear, feel, and notice. (No judgments allowed)?
The C’s are meant to help you ground yourself.
The C’s are a form of mindfulness.
The C’s can anchor your strengths.
The C’s can increase your possibilities and options.
The C’s can increase your resilience.
The C’s can give you a chance to create an affirmation.
Change:
What do I need to change?
How do I change?

What do I know for sure?
What specifically are the details?
Choice:
How do I choose this or that?
What is important to me?
Control:
What ways do I have control?
What ways do I not have control?
What would I like to control, and why?
What do I need to control, and why?
Curiosity:
How and when am I curious?
Where am I curious?
When am I curious?
Calm:
What makes me calm?
Clarity:
How do I arrive at being clear?
Creativity:
How am I creative?
Care:
How do I care for myself?
Context:
How do I see the context of my life?
Coping:

How do I cope with different situations?
Connecting:
How do I connect with myself and others?
Current:
What is currently happening in my life?
Comfort zone:
What and where is my comfort zone?
How do I get to my comfort zone?
Connecting with information:
What are the different ways I connect with information?
These questions require a response. They orient the mind in a specified direction. These are just some of the questions you can ask yourself. It's important to note that the quality of your life is dependent on the quality of the questions you ask yourself.
Make sure you give yourself all the time you need to address each C question as if you imagine yourself a detective on a treasure hunt.
You can use this protocol for self-reflecting, and for bringing fulfilling and meaningful moments into consciousness. Doing so, gives you the opportunity to enhance the quality of your life and to also discover self-enlightenment. The power to shape your future - for the better - is up to you.
Here is a document you can use for practice.
